How to Accomplish Your Dreams

The biggest adventure you can take is to live the
life of your dreams.
Oprah Winfrey
What’s
your dream? What’s holding you back from accomplishing your dream?
Listen
to Your Heart
Find a
quiet place and time to meditate and/or pray and listen. What’s your heart
saying? What gets you excited about the future? What do you want to accomplish
during your life?
Be
Truthful
“What’s really holding you back? Can you keep going on
and on and claiming its fear? Could it be the old excuse that you are a
perfectionist? Or is it that you are uncertain or unskilled? What if the real
issue is that you’re simply uncomfortable with change? Or that you are simply
trapped in a rhythm of how much action you are willing to take each day? More
often than not, what prevents people from starting a dream is lack
of sustained motivation and discipline. Because armed with those
things, you can overcome fear, right? So begin with honesty about what’s
preventing you from starting your dream and realize that the only way through
it is to begin.” Brendon Burchard, How to Start Your
Dream When You’re Scared, Success.com, July 2017
Take Action
After you’ve figured out
what’s standing in your way of accomplishing your dream, act on it. If it’s a
lack of education find places where you get the education. There are many
different sources for education including inexpensive and free courses offered online
and in the community. If it’s a lack of support find a group of people working
on the same dream. If it’s a lack of money speak to people and ask them their
ideas. Listen to your heart and find creative ways to get the money you need…if
you want something bad enough your heart/mind will find a way. “Just really, really believe in what you're trying to
do…Let people advise you and lead you down paths to make smart…decisions. But
trust your instinct and trust that overwhelming drive that made you put all
your dreams and everything on the line.” Luke Bryan, American
Musician
Stay Focused, Consistent
and Persistent
Focus on the dream.
Consistently work on your dream, “…take five action steps every single day…”
Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul. Be persistent even when
things get difficult. “Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and
sacrifice, and, above all, and don’t let anyone limit your dreams.” Donovan
Bailey 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist
Revaluate and be
Flexible
Periodically look at
your dream/goal. How is it going? Do you need to break it into smaller goals?
Can it get done in the time period you wanted to or do you need more time? Did
you accomplish it faster than expected, if so what’s your next dream/goal?
Conclusion
What’s your dream?
What’s holding you back from accomplishing your dream? Never give up on your
dreams, listen to your heart/mind, be truthful, take action, stay focused,
consistent and persistent, revaluate and be flexible—it will lead you to
accomplishing great things. “It is better to risk starving to death then
surrender. If you give up on your dreams, what's left?” Jim Carrey
